Eco Eyewear: A sustainable solution

Jun 28, 2022

The awareness and demand for more sustainable eyewear have risen in demand over the past year or two.  As new materials become available, manufacturers want to be responsive to this new wave of responsibility.

William Morris London has continued to strive to keep up with the latest trends in eyewear and being socially responsible is no different.  Our new eco frames are based on substances which occur naturally by extracting cellulose from cotton.  Eco eyewear is helping towards today’s growing climate crisis, by improving traditional manufacturing processes.

Our new eco frames use bio-acetate which is a material that will degrade in soil as well the thinners that are used.  Materials such as plastic are, which we all know, a serious threat to our seas because they degrade very slowly.

There is an ISO standard for biodegradable materials: the material used in our eco-eyewear frames are compatible with this standard and have undergone the testing procedure.

Some of our eco-eyewear range includes some well-loved models such as LN50235C1 and LN50233C3.  We have brand new eco design so keep your eyes peeled for Autumn/Winter 2022.

The increasing prevalence and choice of sustainable materials are driving awareness for buyers and consumers.   As a fashion-conscious eyewear brand, William Morris London is always looking for ways to innovate and move with the times.
